Find out what is causing the delay

More memory is not always the answer. Storage, startup programs, software errors and hardware condition can all contribute to delays. We check where the waiting occurs and what you need the device to do before suggesting changes or spending on replacement parts.

  • Check slow startup and delays opening applications.
  • Investigate freezing, crashes and repeated errors.
  • Review storage and relevant startup software.
  • Check for unwanted programs where appropriate.
  • Assess suitable memory or storage upgrades.
  • Discuss repair and replacement choices against your needs.

Getting ready for the appointment

  • Tell us about any recent update or new application.
  • Mention unusual noises or problems accessing files.
  • Have details of any existing backup available.

Common questions

Does a slow computer always need replacing?

Only if memory is a relevant limitation and the device supports a suitable upgrade. We check the actual cause rather than assume one part will solve every delay.

Will adding memory make my computer faster?

It can be, depending on the fault, condition and tasks required. We discuss useful improvements and compare the likely work with replacement where that is appropriate.

Can you check a slow Mac as well as a Windows PC?

Yes. We assess Mac performance as well as Windows PCs, considering software, storage and hardware options supported by the particular device.

How do I explain an intermittent performance problem?

We discuss file needs before making changes. Unwanted programs and temporary data differ from your documents and photos, and important information without a backup should be mentioned first.

How do I find out about pricing?

Our minimum labour time is one hour per job, and many jobs only need that hour. If more time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. We do not charge call-out fees or travel costs. For onsite work, the time starts when your technician arrives. Parts cost extra if needed. The total depends on the fault and the work required, so we can give a more accurate estimate after diagnosis. Call us on 1300 336 367 to discuss pricing, or use our repair estimate form to send the details.

How long should I allow for the job?

Many jobs take around an hour, which is our minimum labour time per job. If extra time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. After diagnosing the issue, your technician can give a more accurate time estimate and explain the options, taking the work needed and your budget into account. Some repairs need parts or work offsite, which can affect the time before the computer is ready.
