Check the connection from the device to the network

The right checks depend on where the connection fails. We can compare the device, local wireless setup and modem or router, and explain when the internet provider needs to investigate. An onsite visit is useful when physical connections or coverage around the home are involved.

  • Investigate Wi-Fi dropouts and failed connections.
  • Check router and computer settings relevant to the fault.
  • Reconnect printers and other supported network devices.
  • Compare wired and wireless behaviour where useful.
  • Discuss coverage and suitable network equipment.
  • Help identify issues to raise with the internet provider.

Getting ready for the appointment

  • Note where the connection works and where it fails.
  • Tell us whether phones and other computers are affected.
  • Have the router, printer and normal equipment available.
  • Keep details of recent provider or equipment changes.

Common questions

Is the problem my Wi-Fi or the internet service?

We can assess wireless coverage and discuss suitable router placement or additional equipment. The layout and current setup matter, so buying an extender first is not always useful.

Can you connect my printer to the network?

We can help identify signs of a provider or service fault and explain useful information to give the provider. Repairs to its network remain its responsibility.

Would new Wi-Fi equipment solve the issue?

No. Contact us about the symptoms and existing equipment first. We can assess whether settings, a fault or a change of equipment is the appropriate next step.

What if the provider needs to fix the connection?

Yes. We help connect supported printers, install suitable software and test printing from your computer. Tell us the printer model and whether other devices can use it.

How do I find out about pricing?

Our minimum labour time is one hour per job, and many jobs only need that hour. If more time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. We do not charge call-out fees or travel costs. For onsite work, the time starts when your technician arrives. Parts cost extra if needed. The total depends on the fault and the work required, so we can give a more accurate estimate after diagnosis. Call us on 1300 336 367 to discuss pricing, or use our repair estimate form to send the details.

How long should I allow for the job?

Many jobs take around an hour, which is our minimum labour time per job. If extra time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. After diagnosing the issue, your technician can give a more accurate time estimate and explain the options, taking the work needed and your budget into account. Some repairs need parts or work offsite, which can affect the time before the computer is ready.
