Understand the fault before choosing the next step

Tell us how far the device gets and whether anything changed before the failure. We can investigate software and physical causes and explain the findings in plain English. A drive problem may require separate data-recovery work rather than an ordinary startup repair.

  • Investigate computers that do not power on.
  • Check blank screens, repeated restarts and startup messages.
  • Assess Windows or macOS loading problems.
  • Look at relevant power, storage and hardware faults.
  • Discuss repair choices and any required parts.
  • Consider backups and files before changes.

Getting ready for the appointment

  • Take a photo of any error message.
  • Tell us if the device was damaged or recently changed.
  • Have its normal charger or power supply available.
  • Mention files you need and any backup you have.

Common questions

Does a black screen mean the computer is beyond repair?

A black display can result from several faults, including the display or power system. Diagnosis is needed before deciding that the whole computer has failed.

Should I reinstall Windows before asking for help?

Not every loading fault is a Windows issue. We check the cause and important file needs before considering reinstalling or other software work.

Can you check a Mac stuck during startup?

Yes. Mac startup failures can be assessed for hardware and software causes, including a device that repeatedly stops at its normal loading screen.

Can files still be accessible if the computer will not start?

We can discuss accessible transfers and recovery assessment. A computer failing to start does not tell us whether every file remains available, so recovery is not promised.

How do I find out about pricing?

Our minimum labour time is one hour per job, and many jobs only need that hour. If more time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. We do not charge call-out fees or travel costs. For onsite work, the time starts when your technician arrives. Parts cost extra if needed. The total depends on the fault and the work required, so we can give a more accurate estimate after diagnosis. Call us on 1300 376 225 to discuss pricing, or use our repair estimate form to send the details.

How long should I allow for the job?

Many jobs take around an hour, which is our minimum labour time per job. If extra time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. After diagnosing the issue, your technician can give a more accurate time estimate and explain the options, taking the work needed and your budget into account. Some repairs need parts or work offsite, which can affect the time before the computer is ready.
