Computer startup repairs in Canberra

For a computer that will not switch on or stops before loading, our Canberra team can assess the next step. Windows PCs and Macs are covered for hardware and software faults, with important files considered before repair work.

Tell our Canberra team which device and connected equipment are involved. We can discuss pricing and arrange a visit in the ACT or Queanbeyan, or consider remote support where the task allows it.

Understand the fault before choosing the next step

No power, a blank display and a startup message can point to different problems. Note what you see and have the usual charger available. Diagnosis comes before a repair recommendation, including whether parts or offsite work need arranging.

We explain the findings in plain English and can discuss several related tasks during the appointment. Let us know about important information and your priorities before work begins.

  • Investigate computers that do not power on.
  • Check blank screens, repeated restarts and startup messages.
  • Assess Windows or macOS loading problems.
  • Look at relevant power, storage and hardware faults.
  • Discuss repair choices and any required parts.
  • Consider backups and files before changes.

Getting ready for the appointment

  • Take a photo of any error message.
  • Tell us if the device was damaged or recently changed.
  • Have its normal charger or power supply available.
  • Mention files you need and any backup you have.

Common questions

Does a black screen mean the computer is beyond repair?

Not necessarily. Power, display and startup faults can all leave a blank screen. We assess the cause before explaining the choices.

Should I reinstall Windows before asking for help?

Not without considering the cause and your files. Reinstalling may not address a hardware fault and can affect applications and information.

Can you check a Mac stuck during startup?

Yes. We investigate Mac startup issues as well as Windows loading faults. Describe the screen and any recent change to the device.

Can files still be accessible if the computer will not start?

They may be, depending on the fault and storage condition. Tell us what matters and whether another copy exists before work begins.

How do I find out about pricing?

Our minimum labour time is one hour per job, and many jobs only need that hour. If more time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. We do not charge call-out fees or travel costs. For onsite work, the time starts when your technician arrives. Parts cost extra if needed. The total depends on the fault and the work required, so we can give a more accurate estimate after diagnosis. Call us on (02) 6223 2333 to discuss pricing, or use our repair estimate form to send the details.

How long should I allow for the job?

Many jobs take around an hour, which is our minimum labour time per job. If extra time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. After diagnosing the issue, your technician can give a more accurate time estimate and explain the options, taking the work needed and your budget into account. Some repairs need parts or work offsite, which can affect the time before the computer is ready.
