New computer setup in Wollongong
A new computer is much more useful once your email, files and familiar equipment are ready. Australian Computer Doctors can visit your Wollongong home or workplace and help set up a Windows laptop, desktop or Mac.
Tell us about the device you are replacing and the things you want to keep using. We can plan the transfer, discuss pricing and help you understand the new setup rather than leave you to work it out alone.
Call (02) 4231 4567Get your new computer ready for everyday use
Opening the box is only the beginning. You may need email added, programs installed, a printer connected and documents copied from more than one place. We can work through those tasks in the same appointment.
We can also explain where your files are saved, check that you can open what you need and discuss a backup. If the old computer is faulty, let us know before the visit so we can consider how that affects moving your files.

Common questions
Can you set up a Mac as well as a Windows PC?
Yes. We set up Macs and Windows computers, including laptops and desktops. Tell us what you are moving from and which programs and equipment you want to use.
Do I need to start the setup myself?
You can leave it for the technician. If you have already begun, tell us what is complete and where you got stuck so we can pick up from there.
Can I keep my photos and documents?
We can transfer files from the previous device or an existing backup. Keep the old computer until the copied files have been checked, and tell us about anything particularly important.
Can you explain how the new computer works?
Yes. Include the everyday tasks you would like shown, such as finding files, using email or checking backups. We can build those explanations into the planned appointment.
How do I find out about pricing?
Our minimum labour time is one hour per job, and many jobs only need that hour. If more time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. We do not charge call-out fees or travel costs. For onsite work, the time starts when your technician arrives. Parts cost extra if needed. The total depends on the fault and the work required, so we can give a more accurate estimate after diagnosis. Call us on (02) 4231 4567 to discuss pricing, or use our repair estimate form to send the details.
How long should I allow for the job?
Many jobs take around an hour, which is our minimum labour time per job. If extra time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. After diagnosing the issue, your technician can give a more accurate time estimate and explain the options, taking the work needed and your budget into account. Some repairs need parts or work offsite, which can affect the time before the computer is ready.
