Windows computer repairs and support

Need a Windows computer set up, help removing a virus or someone to fix an email problem? Australian Computer Doctors supports laptops, desktops and custom-built PCs from a range of manufacturers. Windows is the operating system, so you do not need to buy a particular brand to get our help.

We can move files to a new computer, connect printers and Wi-Fi, investigate slow performance and repair faulty parts. You do not need to decide whether a problem is caused by software or hardware before calling. Describe what happens and we can discuss an onsite visit or remote support.

How we can help with your Windows computer

Windows support covers computers from many manufacturers as well as custom desktop PCs. We can help with the operating system, your usual apps and the equipment connected to the computer, or assess a fault that may need hardware repairs.

Get a Windows PC ready to use

We can help with the initial setup, your user account and the programs you need. Have us connect Wi-Fi, email and a printer too, then show you where to find the everyday settings.

New computer setup

Remove viruses and help after scams

If the PC shows suspicious pop-ups or someone has gained access, tell us what happened. We can check for unwanted software, review the computer's security and explain practical steps for using it again.

Virus and malware removal

Fix email apps and account setup

Windows computers can use Outlook, browser-based email and other apps. Tell us which one you use and what has changed so we can investigate the account, application and connection without guessing.

Email and connection help

Find out why Windows is running slowly

Long startup times, slow apps and freezing do not all have the same cause. We check what happens during your usual tasks before recommending software changes, repairs or an upgrade that would be worthwhile.

Help with a slow computer

Reconnect Windows to the internet

We investigate Wi-Fi dropouts, network errors and PCs that cannot connect while other devices can. Checking the computer alongside the router helps establish whether the problem is local to that PC or affects the wider connection.

Network and Wi-Fi support

Set up printers and connected equipment

We can add a printer or screen and investigate equipment that Windows no longer recognises. Include the accessory model and any error message so we can check its connection, settings and relevant software.

Network and Wi-Fi support

Transfer your files to another PC

We help locate and move documents, photos and other files from the old computer. Applications may need reinstalling, so tell us which programs you rely on as well as which folders need transferring.

New computer setup

Set up a backup you can check

We can discuss suitable backup storage and what needs to be copied. As well as setting it up, we can show you how to confirm it is running and how you would find a saved file.

Backups and data recovery

Investigate Windows startup errors

If Windows keeps restarting, stops at a loading screen or shows an error, note the message before contacting us. We discuss the files on the computer before attempting changes that could affect them.

Computer startup help

Repair faulty computer parts

Windows runs on many makes and models. Give us the manufacturer and full model, or details of a custom build, so we can discuss assessment of a broken screen, keyboard, drive or another part.

Hardware repairs and upgrades

Get advice about missing Windows files

If documents have disappeared or a drive no longer opens, we can assess what has happened and discuss recovery. Tell us where the files were stored and what you have already tried; recovery cannot be guaranteed.

Backups and data recovery

Review updates, storage and startup apps

A health check can help identify software, storage or maintenance issues. Tell us about the tasks that are difficult so we can give practical recommendations instead of changing settings without a clear purpose.

Computer health checks

Decide whether to repair or replace the PC

We consider its condition, the software you need and the work involved in setting up a replacement. The aim is to explain practical choices for your budget, including whether a useful upgrade is possible.

Upgrades and purchase advice

Arrange a computer insurance assessment

If an insurer asks for a report about a damaged Windows PC, share the requirements when enquiring. We can discuss inspection, written findings and the repair or replacement options for that computer.

Computer insurance reports

Ask about remote Windows support

A PC with a working internet connection may be suitable for remote software, email or setup help. Explain the problem when you call so we can decide whether remote support or an onsite visit is appropriate.

Remote computer support

Repair or replace your Windows PC?

A problem with Windows does not always mean the computer needs replacing. We can check whether the issue is with the software or a faulty part and explain what can be done. If you are considering an upgrade or a new PC, we can help you compare the options.

You can book computer help online or request a repair estimate with the model, a description of the problem and any useful photos. If you decide to replace it, we can also help you choose a new computer.

Common questions

Do you only work on one brand of Windows computer?

No. We support suitable PCs from several manufacturers and custom-built desktop computers. Include the make and model where possible. Hardware compatibility and parts requirements are checked for the particular device.

Will you have to erase my computer?

Not every problem needs Windows reinstalled. We assess the fault and discuss any step that could affect your files. Tell us about important data and backups before work starts. Recovery or a successful repair cannot be guaranteed.

Can someone help me remotely?

Some software and settings problems can be handled remotely if the computer starts, has a working internet connection and the issue is suitable. Hardware faults or a machine that cannot load may need a visit or another assessment.

Are you Microsoft support?

No. Australian Computer Doctors is an independent computer service. We can help with suitable Windows and PC issues, but do not represent Microsoft or bypass account security. We explain when you need assistance from the account provider or manufacturer.

How do I find out about pricing?

Our minimum labour time is one hour per job, and many jobs only need that hour. If more time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. We do not charge call-out fees or travel costs. For onsite work, the time starts when your technician arrives. Parts cost extra if needed. The total depends on the fault and the work required, so we can give a more accurate estimate after diagnosis. Call us on 1300 551 350 to discuss pricing, or use our repair estimate form to send the details.

How long does a computer repair take?

Many jobs take around an hour, which is our minimum labour time per job. If extra time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. After diagnosing the issue, your technician can give a more accurate time estimate and explain the options, taking the work needed and your budget into account. Some repairs need parts or work offsite, which can affect the time before the computer is ready.

Can you help set up a new computer?

Yes. We can get your email and printer working, connect to Wi-Fi, install the programs you use and help transfer your files. Tell us what you need moved and whether the old computer still works when arranging help.
