Computer hardware repairs on the Sunshine Coast

A faulty part does not always mean buying a new computer. Australian Computer Doctors visits Sunshine Coast homes and small businesses to diagnose hardware problems and discuss suitable repairs or upgrades.

We explain the fault, the parts required and the choices available. You can then decide what makes sense for the computer, the work you need it to do and your budget.

Computer hardware repairs and upgrades

A repair starts with finding the cause. Similar symptoms can come from different parts or from software, so the computer needs checking before a reliable recommendation can be made.

Some work can be completed during a visit; other repairs depend on parts or need work offsite. We discuss those arrangements first. Our normal service fee applies to diagnosis and a recommended repair or replacement, including when a serious fault makes repair uneconomical.

  • Diagnose laptop and desktop hardware faults.
  • Assess suitable replacement parts for a damaged device.
  • Discuss memory and storage upgrades for compatible computers.
  • Investigate power, display and connection problems.
  • Help plan file transfer or backup around repair work.
  • Compare repair, upgrade and replacement options.

What to include in a hardware enquiry

  • Tell us the make and model of the computer.
  • Describe the symptoms rather than guessing which part has failed.
  • Mention any damage or recent change to the equipment.
  • Let us know whether the computer starts and whether files are backed up.

Common questions

Can you quote for a part before checking the computer?

The model can help identify possible parts, but symptoms do not always establish the fault. We explain when diagnosis is needed before a useful repair estimate can be given.

Can every computer be upgraded?

No. Suitable upgrades depend on the model, its design and the condition of the device. We check what is possible before recommending parts.

Do I pay if you find that a repair is not worthwhile?

Yes. Our normal service fees apply when we diagnose the fault and explain a suitable repair or replacement option, even if repairing the device is uneconomical or you choose not to proceed.

What happens if parts need ordering?

We discuss the part, expected arrangements and the repair work with you. If the computer needs work offsite, the technician will explain how taking it and returning it will be arranged.

How do I find out about pricing?

Our minimum labour time is one hour per job, and many jobs only need that hour. If more time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. We do not charge call-out fees or travel costs. For onsite work, the time starts when your technician arrives. Parts cost extra if needed. The total depends on the fault and the work required, so we can give a more accurate estimate after diagnosis. Call us on (07) 5412 1255 to discuss pricing, or use our repair estimate form to send the details.

How long should I allow for the job?

Many jobs take around an hour, which is our minimum labour time per job. If extra time is needed, we bill in 15 minute blocks. After diagnosing the issue, your technician can give a more accurate time estimate and explain the options, taking the work needed and your budget into account. Some repairs need parts or work offsite, which can affect the time before the computer is ready.
