Help with a computer that will not start

A blank screen, an error message or a computer stuck loading can have several causes. Australian Computer Doctors helps with Windows PCs and Macs that will not start properly, including hardware and software faults.

Describe what happens when you press the power button. Whether the device shows lights, reaches a logo or repeatedly restarts is useful information, but you do not need to work out the technical cause yourself.

We normally come to you to assess the computer and explain the findings. The repair may involve software work, replacement parts or an offsite arrangement, depending on the diagnosis. We will discuss those options with you.

Tell us about important files that do not have a backup before work begins. A computer that will not load does not by itself tell us whether the files can be accessed or whether separate recovery work is needed.
